Monarchy

This illustration reflects upon the relationship between humans and nature. In this piece, a pair of human hands are holding a pufferfish and an eel as if they are the orb and scepter of a monarch. We often think about nature in terms of its function, such as how it can decorate our life or serve as tools for our wellbeing. We think about how we can mold it to our ends. This is the position that humankind has over all other forms of life; we are capable of shaping the world around us to a greater extent than all other species.
